Walpole's Board of Selectmen recognized and thanked the town’s six police officers that were deployed to Boston to assist in the aftermath of the Marathon bombings.
Six Walpole police officers were recognized at Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting for their efforts in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings and the manhunt for Suspect #2. Selectmen thanked police chief Richard Stillman, patrolman Scott Koenig, Detective Sgt. Jim O'Connell, patrolman Luke Parlon and motorcycle patrolman AL Manganello. These six officers answered the call and assisted in the investigation of the marathon bombing as well as the April 19th manhunt that eventually led to the capture of second bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. After 102 hours of terror, mourning, striving and struggle, police killed one and captured the second marathon bomber suspect. With both of the bombers accounted for, law enforcement nabbed …

The Labyrinth Garden was filled with candles and prayers for our Marathon victims and families.
The United Church of Walpole held a vigil on Wednesday evening in the Labyrinth Garden to pray for the families of the 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy. Reverend Ray Kostulias of the United Church and Reverend Alan Hesse of the Epiphany Church led the ceremony. Young and old joined together to pray for the families of the victims. Candles were handed out as people arrived by members of the United Church congregation. Citizen of the Year, Phillip Czachkowski, rang the bell at the start of the ceremony. Afterwards, each person was handed a stone to place in the marble bowl at the center of the labyrinth and was encouraged to pray for a moment. Walpole High School student Casey Culhane attended with two of her friends and said, "I am here …

An empty building located at 561 Providence Highway on Route 1 in Walpole once housed a Kentucky Fried Chicken. However, the building is now vacant and got us wondering what should go there to replace it. The space is complete with a convenient drive-through window across the street from the Walmart.
