Mrs. Mary C. (Scampoli) Silvi, 96, died in the Belmont Manor Nursing Center in Belmont, on Thursday, June 13, 2013. Born in Dedham, Jan. 31, 1917, she was the daughter of Anthony and Maria (Panetta) Scampoli. Raised in Dedham, she graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1935. A resident of Walpole for the past 55 years moving here from Dedham, where she was involved in the Walpole Senior Center and the Italian American Society. Mrs. Silvi loved arts and crafts, especially sewing , knitting, and making braided rugs. Beloved wife of the late James Joseph Silvi, she was the loving mother of John J. Frederick A. Atkinson, 89, of Douglas, formerly of Walpole, Norton, Framingham and Roslindale died in the Milford Regional Hospital in Milford on Sunday, June 9th. Born in North East Point, Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia, Canada on Feb. 25, 1924, he was the son of Frederick Nickerson and Abbie Jane (York) Atkinson. He attended school in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Upon Completion of School, he entered the United States Navy to serve his new country during World War II. He was a retired Transportation Supervisor for the Stop & Shop Bakery. Retired Walpole Fire Department Chief Leonard Anderson, 82, died in his East Walpole Home surrounded by his family on Monday, June 10th, 2013. Born in Boston on March 6, 1931, the son of A. Leonard and Grace M. (Doyle) Anderson. He graduated from Stoughton High School with the Class of 1948. Entered into the Submarine Corp with the United States Navy and served his country just after WWII. He founded Anderson Electrical Contractors of Walpole in 1961. He was appointed to the Walpole Fire Department in 1966 as a firefighter, promoted to Lieutenant in 1972 and sworn in as Chief of the Department in January 1983 serving until July of 1996 when he retired. Joseph “Raymond” Rios of Norfolk and formerly of Walpole, 85, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Raymond was "Special Needs" and attended Walpole Grammar Schools and Wrentham State School until 1954. Since that time, he worked in various positions including Blanchard Lumber until 1973. After being involved in a serious accident, he worked in a workshop, Norfolk Industrial Services, now called Lifeworks in Norwood, which helps the mentally challenged find jobs. Ray had been employed by Stop and Shop in Norwood since their opening in 1998, retiring in 2008. An avid sports enthusiast, he closely followed all Walpole High School sports. He was the husband of Patricia I. (Devlin) Chagnon. Born in the Nashua, N.H. May 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Archibald and Marie (Keanan) Chagnon. Mr. Chagnon was a WWII Army veteran, serving for three years. He attained the rank of corporal and was a radio operator station on Kwajalein Atoll. John J. "Jake" Reardon, 79, passed away on May 10th, 2013. He was a Walpole resident for 12 years.
Mr. John J. “Jake” Reardon age 79 years died in his Walpole home on Friday, May 10, 2013. Born in Boston on March 30, 1934, he was the son of John and Katherine (Chisholm) Reardon. He was educated in the Boston Public Schools and attended Roslindale High School. As an underage man he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country on the USS Chipola. He has been a resident of Walpole for the past 12 years moving there from Norwood, where he had lived for 32 years. He was the owner of the City Store in Brighton for many years and after his retirement he enjoyed working at Home Depot in Norwood. Reardon was very passionate about spending time fishing on his boat as well as being a member of the Monument Beach Marina in Bourne. …
