Walpole Wins Over Weymouth on Thanksgiving

The Rebels scored five unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Walpole beat rival Weymouth Thursday morning, 48-21, at Weymouth High School to take a share of the Bay State Conference Herget Division title.

Weymouth had a 21-13 lead with nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter before imploding and giving up five unanswered touchdowns to the Rebels.

Walpole's star running back Mike Rando scored two touchdowns in his final game as a Rebel. Rando had been injured earlier in the season with a high ankle sprain.

Senior captain Cam Hanley bulldozed his way on two short touchdown runs on the goal line. P.J. Hayes returned a kickoff for a touchdown and Steve Thulin also added a score.

For the Wildcats, Dave Harrison led the way scoring all three Weymouth touchdowns, including a nifty 72-yard run.

Carey Division winners Weymouth will move on to play Brockton in the EMass Div. 1 Semifinal, Tuesday, Nov. 27 at a time to be determined.

The Rebels finish their season with a record of 10-1, their only blemish a pivotol loss to Natick that cost them a trip to the playoffs.
