Walpole Boys' Basketball Opens MIAA D2 South Sectional State Tourney Against Hingham

Rebels seeded ninth in state tournament.

A 13-7 record earned the Walpole High School boys' basketball team the ninth seed in next week's MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament.

The Rebels will travel to Hingham, the tourament's eighth seed, on Thursday, Feb. 28 for a 7 p.m. first round game. The winner will take on the winner of Scituate and the winner of Tuesday's Falmouth-Oliver Ames game. The quarterfinal round will be held on March 2.

After starting the season 5-5, Walpole has caught fire; winning eight of its last 10, including a five-game winning streak from Jan. 25 to Feb. 7. Walpole currently holds a 3-game winning streak and won the 2013 Rebel Hoop Classic with a 76-64 win over Stoughton.
