PJ Hayes Takes First Place in 55 Meter Dash at MIAA All-State Meet

The Rebel boys finished 8th overall in the MIAA All-State meet.

Members of the Walpole boys and girls indoor track teams competed in the MIAA All-State meet Saturday.

The Rebels top performer was senior PJ Hayes who won the 55 meter dash. Hayes finished with a time of 6.47, just three-tenths of a second faster than second place finisher Alex Mayhew of Haverhill.

Senior Connor McCarthy finished third in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.65. Jung Park of Newton South came in first with a time of 7.57.

As a team the boys tied for 8th place overall with St. John's of Shrewsbury and Hingham with 16 points.

On the girls side junior Gina Conti came in sixth in the 600 meter run with a final time of 1:36.72.

Senior Maddy Shea finished twelfth in the girls long jump with a distance of 16-00.50.

The girls team finished in a four-way tie for 47th place out of 55 teams.
