The 'Color Connections' Art Show at Walpole's Barnes and Noble Feature's Dynamic Student Work

This show features work from students from all the Walpole public schools and will be running through the end of March.

The month of March is Youth Art Month and this year's annual exhibit is entitled "Color Connections," which is on display through the end of the month at the Barnes And Noble Book Store Cafe at the Walpole Mall shopping plaza.

The collection features art from all of the public schools in Walpole and respresents Kindergarten through Grade 12 students. The exhibit shows the growth in the students' artistic ability as they progress in the art program.

"We picked a theme for the exhibit," said Sandra Allison, Art Department Chariperson for the Walpole Schools. "Each teacher at the different schools went through their students art work and picked work that best represented our theme which is color."

The schools and art teachers represented are: Walpole High School (Sandra Allison, Richard Kim, Willa McKee) Johnson Middle School (Linda Munoz-Bennett) Bird Middle School (Katherine Richards), Elm Street School (Joanne Robbins), Old Post Road School (Alice Siegel), Boyden Elementary School (Marcia Marinelli) and Fisher Elementary School (Joanne Hirschfeld)

On Tuesday, March 5, there was a reception honoring the students where each teacher introduced their students and presented them with a "Certificate of Appreciation" for their work. The reception was attended by the artists and members of their families. Also in attendance were the Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Lynch and the Assistant Superintendent, Ms. Kenney as well as some of the school principals.
