Police received a call around 11:30 p.m. Monday reporting the stabbing as “a slashing to the face with a knife,” according to scanner reports. O’Leary said officers were given a description of the suspect and officer Steve McGrath located the man at “about 11:37 p.m.”
The suspect, Grant A. Phillips, 30, of Hyde Park, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife), assault and battery and disorderly conduct, according to O’Leary.
The victim, a Walpole man, was transported to Norwood Hospital for medical treatment. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time but police believe the man suffered wounds to his face.
