Walpole Obituary: Steve Dalo

Mr. Dalo worked at Ciba-Corning in East Walpole as a shipping clerk.

Steve Dalo 87, of Franklin, died peacefully, Sunday December 2, 2012 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by his family following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Marie L. (Mucciarone) Dalo for 63 years.

Born in Medfield, October 10, 1925 a son of the late Vincenzo and Rosa (Falzano) DAlo, he was a resident of Franklin since 1941. He was raised and educated in Medfield, and was a retired shipping clerk for Ciba-Corning in East Walpole and also worked as a salesman for CVS.

Steve served his country in the United States Army during WWII; he attained the rank of Corporal and participated in the battle of Rhineland, Ardennes in Central Europe and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in April of 1946. He was the past Commander of the Franklin Post #3402 V.F.W., a member of the Quattro Eroi Lodge #1414 Franklin Sons of Italy, a communicant of St. Marys Church, Franklin, where he was a former usher, the Medfield American Legion, the Franklin Senior Citizens, the Friends of Franklin, and was also a school crossing guard.

Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, playing the violin, organ and accordion. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Stephen P. Dalo and his companion Joyce Peabody of San Diego, California, a daughter Sandra A. Jackson and her husband Stephen of Norton, a brother Arthur Dalo of Mooresville, North Carolina, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Olga Zanstuck and Lola Travers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Friday Dec. 7th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church 1 Church Sq. at 10AM.

Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours are Thurs. Dec. 6th, from 5-8PM.

Due to floral limitations at the cemetery, the family suggests memorial donations in his memory may be sent to the Franklin Senior Center 10 Daniel McCahill St. Franklin, MA 02038 would be appreciated.
