Walpole Obituary: Gerald I. Flynn

Mr. Flynn was the Walpole town treasurer for 15 years. He was also a member of the Walpole Knights of Columbus for 68 years as well as the Treasurers Association.

Gerald I. Flynn age 92 years died in the Pond Home in Wrentham, Massachusetts on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Born in Clinton, Massachusetts on August 17, 1920, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Francke) Flynn. Mr. Flynn graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1938. He was raised in Clinton and moved to Walpole, Massachusetts in 1942. He later moved to Westwood, Massachusetts in 1971.

He worked as an accountant, beginning his career at the Kendall Company in Walpole before moving to the Walpole Press. He retired from the Town of Walpole after serving as Town Treasurer for 15 years.

Mr. Flynn was a member of Walpole Knights of Columbus for 68 years as well as the Treasurers Association.

He enjoyed travel and was an avid Celtics and Patriots fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of the late Jean I. (Connell) Flynn. Loving father of Matthew G. Flynn of Mansfield, Elizabeth J. "Cissy" Wilson of South Easton, Isabel M. Rhilinger of Bridgewater, Dennis J. Flynn of Holliston, and Thomas C. Flynn of Freeport, NY. Cherished grandfather of Edward A. Rhilinger, III, Jackie Rhilinger, Amber Rhilinger, Charlene Flynn, and Douglas Flynn. Brother of Mary Jane Walsh of Wrentham, the late John Flynn, and the late Virginia Mauritz. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church 176 Washington Street East Walpole on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours are Friday, February 22, 2013 from 4-8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Weymouth.
