Walpole Obituary: Florence Cecelia Sheppard

Ms. Sheppard was a resident of Walpole since 1960.

Florence Cecelia (MacDonald) Sheppard, R.N. age 85 years, passed in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Floence was born in New Waterford on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia on February 4, 1928 to the late Archie A. and Catherine (MacLennan) MacDonald. She attended school in Mabou and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia where she earned her R.N. After graduation she worked in the New Waterford Consolodated Hospital. In 1960 she and Gerald moved to Walpole, Massachusetts where they still reside. After her children entered school she returned to nursing at the Van Dora Nursing Home in Foxboro, Massachusetts where she worked until retirement.

On of Florence’s favorite pastimes was her Friday shopping excursions with her sister Mary. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and tending to her flowers gardens. She was proud of her Scottish heritage which she passed on to her children.

Beloved wife of Gerald F. Sheppard. Loving mother of Kevin and his wife Sarah of Rhode Island, Madonna Kirpich of Walpole, Adele Hornsby and her husband Jim of North Attleboro, Heather Brady and her husband Kevin of Walpole. Cherished grandmother of Amanda Vo and her husband Peter. Katelyn and Alec Sheppard, Jaidam, Ben, Maia and Kelsey Kirpich, Megan and Jamie Hornsby. A special mention should be given to Amanda and Megan who eased Nana's last days with loving care. Sister of William MacDonald, Hughena Kennedy both of Ontario, the late Josephine MacDonald, Mary Melanson, Jesse Lalonde, Danny MacDonald, Dr. John A. MacDonald, Alexander MacDonald, Stanley MacDonald, Miles MacDonald, and Dr. Charles MacDonald. Also survived by many nieces and nephew in both Canada and the United States.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Friday, March 15, 2013 from 4 to 8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
