Obituary: Ronald Loeser

Ronald G. Loeser of East Walpole, MA, passed away peacefully at home Sunday night surrounded by his family and friends. Beloved husband of Joanne C. Heslin, loving brother of Sandra L. and her husband Robert Royster of South Yarmouth. Cherished “Cool” Uncle of Deborah Strong of Simsbury, CT, Mark Royster of Kingston, NY, Kevin Royster of Newburgh, NY and George Coombs of Quincy, MA. Great uncle to a niece and several nephews.

Ron was a private, peaceful and strong man, who bravely and courageously battled a disease that challenged his body and soul for many years.

Ron grew up in Malden, MA and spent summers of his youth with his close cousins in Nantucket. After starting what would be a lifelong banking career on the island at Nantucket Bank, Ron enjoyed a long, successful career in commercial banking spanning over 45 years, culminating with his retirement as a commercial real estate lender from Mansfield Bank in 2011.

A 25 year resident of East Walpole, Ron created many ties with his adopted hometown through the close, personal relationships that he cultivated and many friends he now leaves behind.

As an avid sports fan, most notably for the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, he attended many Red Sox games and especially enjoyed attending Red Sox/Yankees games with his nephew Kevin-a staunch Yankees fan. Ron also enjoyed golfing, boating, and was an avid history buff, with a particular interest in World War II.

However, the most enjoyment Ron experienced in life was spending time on Bear Island on Lake Winnipesaukee. There, he spent peaceful, quality time with friends and family, as he enjoyed having company at their home as often as possible. Good times were spent with family, friends and neighbors from the cove who would congregate on the porch with Ron planning lobster bakes, boat rides and fireworks. The camaraderie and serenity of these times brought much happiness and well being to Ron.

Finally, Ron loved animals, and derived great comfort and contentment from his pets Clancy and Petey. They, along his family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances will also miss him dearly.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Medfield Animal Shelter PO Box 271 Medfield, MA 02052 or the Quincy Animal Shelter P.O. Box 88, Quincy, MA 02169-0088.
