Laurier J. Laurie' Cantwell Dies at 84; Walpole Resident and Business Owner for Over 50 Years

Cantwell was the owner of Dudley Exterminating Company in Walpole for 50 years.

Laurier J. “Laurie” Cantwell, 84, died in the Victoria Haven Nursing Facility in Norwood on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

Born in Boston on Aug. 23, 1928, he was the son of the late William J. and Lillian E. (Delorey) Cantwell. He graduated from the Boston Public School system with the class of 1946. He has been a resident of Walpole for 55 years moving there from Boston.

Mr. Cantwell was the owner of Dudley Exterminating Company in Walpole for 50 years.

He was a member of the King Philip Trail Riders since 1973 and the American Motorcycle Association. In his younger years, he raced in various locations, including at Laconia, N.H. He was also a very involved member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole and was involved with the Drill Team “The Brigadettes.”

Mr. Cantwell enjoyed photography as well as traveling to both Cape Cod and Daytona, Fla.

Beloved husband of the late Gertrude "Gerry" (Lydon) Cantwell. Loving father of Robert A. Cantwell, Elaine M. Gazerro both of Walpole, Lee A. Cantwell of North Attleboro, Joanne L. and her husband Peter Bethoney of Medfield, Timothy P. Cantwell, and Jill E. Bowen both of Walpole. Cherished grandfather (Beempa) of Ann Marie, Kristen, Jamie Gazerro, Christopher and Laurier Pungitore, Peter and Alyssa Bethoney, Julia and Aidan Bowen, and the late Jenna Pungitore. Great grandfather of Dennis Tower and Michaela Lynch. Brother of Joseph Cantwell of New York, Marie Cormier of Canada, Delores Cantwell of Wareham and the late John W. Cantwell.
