Here's the list of what is open and closed in Massachusetts on New Year’s Day this year, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013:

Open (at owner’s discretion):

  • Gas Stations
  • Convenience Stores
  • Restaurants/Bars/Taverns
  • Retail stores
  • Supermarkets
  • Call ahead before heading to any of the above establishments to confirm they are open. Some may be operating with limited hours.

Closed:

  • Banks
  • Places like Town Hall, the post office, the Walpole Public Library, the Walpole Senior Center, etc., that are normally open on a regular Tuesday, are closed today.
