Walpole Coalition For Alcohol & Drug Awareness Video Contest Deadline Extended

Videos must now be uploaded to the Coalition's YouTube and Facebook pages by Tuesday, Jan. 22.

The Walpole Coalition For Alcohol & Drug Awareness has extended the deadline for video submissions for their video challenge to Tuesday, January 22 at midnight.

Voting will now end Tuesday, Feb. 12.

The Coalition sponsors the video production competition to help kids learn about the risks of using drugs and alcohol. Through the creation of videos they will learn about substance abuse in a fun environment, with friends, and have a chance at winning a cash prize. There are three contests, one for high school one for middle school, and one for fifth grade students. First prize is $250, second prize is $100, and third prize is $50.

The contest is simple. Any Walpole resident in grades 5 through 12 at any school (in or out of Walpole) can create a video that sends a message about the impact of using drugs and alcohol. The artists can tell a story, be funny, be dramatic, or anything they feel will send a message to other students about the negative effects of substance abuse. Pictures, music, and special effects can be used and the coalition logo should be used. The video is about content and creativity, not the quality of video due to equipment. If no equipment is available to them it can be provided.

Deadline for the video is Jan. 22. Once the video is completed, it must be uploaded to the Walpole Coalition YouTube account and the link posted to the Walpole Coalition Facebook page. If anyone does not have the ability to upload to YouTube or post to Facebook we will do it for them.

Once the videos are posted the voting begins. The winning video is determined by a combination of votes, creativity, and content. This is a community project – anyone can vote on the You Tube channel or Facebook page. Tell your friends, family, priest, coworkers and gas attendant. The Video Challenge Committee will makes it’s decision and the final winners will be posted on www.drugfreewalpole.com on February 12.
