5 Things You Should Know in Walpole This Month

With the holiday season in full swing there is a lot going on. Here are some things to look out for in Walpole this month.

Winter Parking Ban in Effect

Walpole's winter parking ban took effect Dec. 1 and will be lifted April 1, 2013.

The ban states that any vehicle parked that impedes the removal or plowing of snow or ice will be towed by the Walpole Police.

It also prohibits the parking of any vehicle on any street for longer than one hour between 1-6 a.m. on any day. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and fined.

These regulations shall be strictly enforced from December 1 through April 1.

Santa's House on the Common

Starting Dec. 6 Santa will be at his house on the Town Common to spread Christmas cheer. Hours are Mon.-Fri. 3-5 p.m. and Sat. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa's house closes Dec. 22.

Dog Licenses Expire Dec. 31

Dog licenses in Walpole will expire Dec. 31. The license application period for 2013 will be from Jan. 1 to March 1.

Dogs licensed after March 1 will be charged a $25 late fee in addition do the license fee.

Time Off for Walpole Students in December

Students at Walpole Public Schools will only be in class for 14 1/2 school days during the month December. Dec. 14 is an early release day and winter break will be from Dec. 22 to Jan. 1.

Give Back This Month

Walpole's Edward Jones office will be hosting a Coats for Kids drive this month.

Local residents and businesses may help by bringing in items to Financial Advisor Holly Landry's office during regular business hours from now to January 7, 2013.

The items needed for the clothing drive include: gently used and warm winter jackets. All sizes; child, adult and infant will be collected Extra large and pre-k are needed most. Cleaning provided by Anton Cleaners.

2012 marks the 8th year Norfolk County Agricultural High School will be collecting presents for Toys for Tots. Toy bins will be located in the library and main administration building, through Dec. 17. Their goal is to collect 140 toys this season. Donations should be any new, unwrapped, and non-violent toy.  Items such as puzzles, games and/or coloring books are also welcomed.
