5 Things, Sept. 21: Early Release Day for Walpole Public Schools

2. Half Day for Walpole Schools Today

Early Release Day Times:

Walpole High School- 11:00 a.m.
Middle Schools- 11:20 a.m.
Boyden School- 12:10 p.m.
Fisher School- 12:10 p.m.
Old Post Road School- 11:45 a.m.
Elm Street School- 11:45 a.m.

Half Day Kindergarten
Boyden/Fisher- 12:10 p.m.
Old Post Road- 11:45 a.m.

Walpole Rec. will host their Half Day Cafe for 4th & 5th graders at Blackburn Hall. It's a fun and safe place to hang out with friends for a few hours. It starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 3 p.m. $5 to get in, and there will be pizza and snacks for sale.

3. REMINDER: Walk to End Alzheimer's at Bird Middle School Saturday

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s hosted by the Alzheimer's Association will be Saturday, Sept. 22. Registration is 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

There are no fees or fundraising minimums for this event. Walkers who raise $150 will earn a Walk to End Alzheimer’s t-shirt.

This walk begins at Bird Park, through lovely Bird Park, and then through a residential neighborhood. There is also an option to walk around a 500-foot cul-de-sac at the school within the main event area.

Walpole Patch will be there with the Patch Puppy. Take your picture with the puppy and we'll post it on the site or email you a copy.

American Idol semifinalist Ayla Brown will perform before the walk begins. Browns parents, Senator Scott Brown and wife, Gail Huff, former WCVB Channel 5 news reporter, are serving as honorary chairs.

4. Children's Storytime at Barnes and Noble

Tony Mitton's The Jungle Run will be read during a storytime at Barnes and Noble at the Walpole Mall at 10:30 a.m.
