5 Things, Oct. 12-13: Country Fest, Fire Department Open House and More

1. Cold Saturday, Rain Predicted Sunday

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday calls for widespread frost, mainly before 9 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

On Sunday, there is a chance of showers, mainly before 9 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Breezy, with a southwest wind 11 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

2. Walpole Rec Country Fest

The Walpole Recreation Department & Walpole Youth Football & Cheerleading are throwing a “Welcome Home, BBQ and Party” for ALL of Walpole on Stone Field behind Blackburn Hall (in downtown Walpole). There will be country music, line dancing, BBQ to include, “Conrads” famous steak tips, pulled pork, burgers and dogs, chili-cook- off, bake sale, 50/50 raffle, games, moon walks, dunk the coaches, and surprises and treats for all. Another highlight of the day will be the “Punt, Pass, Kick” competition for boys and girls of all ages with trophies for the winners in each age group. 3. Walpole Fire Department Open House Saturday

The Walpole Fire Department has scheduled an open house on Saturday Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 20 Stone Street the Center Fire station.

Pizza will be served from Papa gino’s, Fire Apparatus and equipment demonstrations will be shown.

The Norfolk county sheriff department will also be at the open house providing a cookout with hotdogs and hamburgers.

This year’s Fire Prevention theme is “KNOW TWO WAYS OUT.” The Walpole Fire Department can’t stress enough the importance of families developing fire safety plans in their homes, meeting place, escape plans and practicing your plans throughout the year.

Information on this and other topics will be available during the open house.

This is a great opportunity for both children and adults to learn about the Walpole Fire Department and the services it provides the town and see some of the town’s equipment.

4. Weekend Brunch

Where are you eating out this weekend? Here are some local restaurants serving weekend brunch:

Raffael's - Sunday bruch at Raffael's is opened to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Raven's Nest- Sunday brunch at the Raven's Nest is from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Old Country Buffet- The Old Counry Buffet will be open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
