5 Things, Dec. 8-9: Santa's House on the Common, Cookies with Santa and More

1. Santa's House on Walpole Common

The great tradition of Santa on the Common starts this year on Dec. 6.  

Sponsored by the Walpole Chamber of Commerce, Old Saint Nick visits his house on the Walpole Common and welcomes children to come and tell him their Christmas wishes!

Santa will be at his house from 3-5 p.m. on weekdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. until Dec. 22.

2. Cookies with Santa

Walpole VFW Post 5188 and Ladies Auxiliary is inviting people to come down this Saturday and have some cookies with Santa. This event is free to the public. Please bring a wrapped gift with your child's name on it for Santa to present.

If you are in need of assistance there may be a limited amount of toys available that have been donated. Please contact 508-668-1989 if you need assistance.

3. Santa Cop Toy Drive Ongoing

The Walpole Police Union Local 115 will be collecting gifts for Walpole residents in need from Nov. 23 through Dec. 14.

They are looking for new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children 12 years old and under

The drop off box location is in the Walpole Police Station lobby.

5. Weekend Weather

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday calls for showers, mainly before 1 p.m. Patchy fog. High near 44. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

On Sunday, look for mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

Sunday night there is a slight chance of rain showers and sleet before 11 p.m., then rain showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 35. East wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
