5 Things, Dec. 29-30: Snow Expected This Weekend and Christmas Tree Pick-Up Info

1. Walpole Curbside Christmas Tree Pick-Up, Drop-Off Schedule

Walpole officials have released the 2013 Christmas tree pick-up and drop-off schedule for residents after the holidays.

Trees should be placed on curbs in front of residents' homes alongside household trash. Pickup will coincide with the regular route for trash collection.

Walpole residents also have the option to drop their trees off this year. In addition to the Robins Road Composting facility, residents can drop their trees off at the following locations:

  • Walpole Department of Public Works Yard - 1385 Washington St.
  • Center Pool Parking Lot
  • Lincoln Road Landfill Site - Front Gate
  • Polley Lane Parking Lot for Bird Park

The British Beer Company on Route 1 in Walpole is hosting Whadd Ya Know Team Trivia Sunday at 8 p.m.

3. Weekend Brunch

Where are you eating out this weekend? Here are some local restaurants serving weekend brunch:

Raffael's - Sunday bruch at Raffael's is opened to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Raven's Nest- Sunday brunch at the Raven's Nest is from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Old Country Buffet- The Old Counry Buffet will be open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Saturday calls for snow, mainly after noon, according to the National Weather Service. Patchy fog after 4 p.m. High near 34. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Sunday there is a chance of snow, mainly before 9 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
