You are bidding on an original press photo from 1973 featuring Officers at the Massachusetts state prison at Walpole surveyed the damage yesterday after a night of inmate rioting in which the prison was heavily damaged. Some 150 state police were called to help quell the riot and five prisoners were wounded by plastic bullets fired by guards. Prisoners had been returned to their cells by 8:30 a. m. yesterday. Authorities said the revolt apparently was triggered by the announcement that there would be a shakedown search for weapons and drugs. Photo is 8” x 9” in size.
