Town Election: Potential Candidates for Walpole Selectmen, Board of Assessors Pull Papers
There are 12 open town positions that need to be filled in the June election.
With two weeks to pull nomination papers in the books, 3 Walpole residents have expressed interest in running for three of the 12 open town positions in June’s annual election.
Most notably, two potential candidates for the two Board of Selectmen seats have pulled nomination papers from the Town Clerk's office.
Chris Donovan of Oakhill Drive and current selectmen chair Eric Kraus of Jorie Lane each have pulled papers for selectmen.
Kraus, who recently accepted a new position as senior vice president and chief communications and corporate affairs officer of Bermuda-based rum selling giant Bacardi, has said he is not certain he will run for re-election.
Donovan ran for selectmen last year coming in third to current selectmen Nancy Mackenzie and Chris Timson.
Current Board of Assessors member John M. O'Connor of Adrienne Road has pulled papers and will potentially run for re-election on that board.
Current Moderator Jon Rockwood said that he will be picking up his papers this week and will be running for re-election.
Here is a look at what positions are available this year and who is up for re-election (if the current town officials choose to run for another term):
